See Their Home on Google Street View
Obituaries and other newspaper articles give us the basic facts and details we need to understand and document our ancestors' lives.
Look for every clue.
Sometimes they give us the street address of the home where the family lived, like this obituary of Medal of Honor recipient Douglas Jacobson.
Notice that his obituary tells us that in 1945 his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jacobson, lived at 34 Marino Avenue in Port Washington, New York.
Once you find your ancestor's home address, an interesting way to learn a little more about their lives is to use Google Street View to see the home they once lived in, if it's still there.
In the case of Douglas Jacobson, a quick search on Google shows us his parents' home on Marino Avenue.

By zooming in on the house number we can confirm that it is number 34.
