'Newspapers for Genealogists,' a Free PowerPoint Download
GenealogyBank participated at the RootsTech genealogy conference in Salt Lake City on Feb. 2-4, 2012. The conference was hugely successful, with more than 4,300 genealogists thronging the booths and attending the lectures and demonstrations. Everyone had a great time learning about new genealogy resources, tools and techniques, and sharing stories about their family history discoveries.
Tom Kemp, GenealogyBank's Director of Genealogy Products, helped staff our booth at the conference and enjoyed mingling with thousands of other genealogists. "I have been attending genealogy conferences for nearly 50 years," Tom said, "and RootsTech 2012 was the best ever."
One of the highlights for Tom—and the conference—was the lecture he delivered explaining how to use newspapers to discover your family history, entitled: "Newspapers for Genealogists: Document Every Day of Your Ancestors' Lives." His lecture was well attended and very well received, with several of the attendees coming up to him afterward asking if they could get a copy of the PowerPoint presentation he used to accompany his lecture.
We decided Tom's lecture would make a good "Search Tips" article for our newsletter—and we are happy to now make his 95-slide PowerPoint presentation available as a free download to our readers. Just click here: http://bit.ly/wcHKzh
