I 'nnmipleted WINK, WLVli sale Suit involves Erie stations One broadcasting company has sued another, claiming it backed out of a deal to buy Erie radio stations WLKK-AM and'WLVU-FM after the transaetion was approved by the Fed eral Communications Commission. Filing suit was WERC Co., a Penn sylvania corporation that has offices in Jamestown. N.Y. WERC sued Bride Broadcasting Co. of Ambridge. Pa . and John W Bride this week in Erie County Court. Reached at Portland, Maine, home. Bride said he would not respond in detail until he receives a copy of the complaint. Bride acknowledged that he was in terested in buying the stations at one time but in general terms denied the accusations contained in the suit. WERC claimed it reached a sales agreement with Bride and Bride Broadcasting in April 1984 to sell miscellaneous assets arid personal property of the two Erie radio sta tions. The FCC approved the deal on June 15, 1984, but the defendants then changed their minds and refused to close the sale, WERC said in its suit. WERC claims it lost $441,796.56 as a result the original sale price of $275,000, another $55,000 in broker age commissions and $111,796.56 i; cost to run the stations in the mean time The company wants to reclaim those sums plus $10,000 plus interest and court costs.
